Joe Murray turning up the heat in training before his next big fight!

Today was the last pad session before Joe fights this Saturday 16th July. I couldn’t be more pleased with his effort and dedication going into this fight. We are working knowing that this camp and this fight will lead us into bigger fights in the future. Working today with joe on the the pads was quality. He’s really got the bit between his teeth, a chip on his shoulder and a point to prove. Since moving up a division he’s really turned into a spiteful fighter. He’s not looking at just out boxing his opponents anymore. He’s developed a real menace and a mean steak. Looking to hurt his opponents and take them out.

Working in this camp we both know that the camp is not only to fight and win this Saturday, but also to build fitness going into bigger fights, title fights in the future. Learning from my own experiences in the past, after having 2 years out the ring, then going into the big fight with Anthony Crolla with only 6 rounds under my belt, looking back was probably a mistake. I don’t intend on making the same mistake with my brother. He’s already had one fight and one camp. This will be his second this weekend. We’re planning on one more outing around October time. Keeping joe busy, getting plenty of rounds under his belt.

After all this hard work, getting joe back into shape and getting rid of any ring rust he might have, we both believe he will be a real threat and title contender in the lightweight decision. He’ll be looking to claim back the British title. (a title I never lost in the ring, after I vacated it to move on to challenge for world honours) It’s a challenge we’re both well up for, and one we both believe we’re more than capable of achieving.
